In Nevada tourism is the primary industry. Much of our economy is based on an
understanding of and efficient use of travel aids and tools. That is why I am
excited to see the creation of USATravelSpace which will consolidate information
and facilitate easier business decisions for all within the Tourism Industry.

1989-1999
He is the former Governor of the State of Nevada (1989 to 1999) during which he served as the Chair (1996 to 1997) and Vice Chair (1995 to 1996) of the National Governors Association and on various committees including
Chair for the Center for Best Practices (1997); Co-Chair of ACHIEVE – NGA’s Public/Private partnership to improve
American Education (1997); Co-Lead Governor on Crime Issues(1993 to 1995); Lead
Governor on Natural Resources (1993 to 1994); Chair of Legal Affairs Committee
(1992 to 1994); and Chair on the Committee on Justice and Public Safety (1990 to
1992). Mr. Miller also served as Chair of the Western Governors Association (1993 to
1994). He was appointed by President Bill Clinton to the Advisory Commission on
Intergovernmental Relations (1993 to 1998).
Mr. Miller is distinguished as the longest serving Governor in Nevada history. He has
held several public offices including Lieutenant Governor and District Attorney for Clark
County. During his tenure as District Attorney he served as the President of the
National District Attorney Association (1984) and was one of nine individuals President
Reagan selected to serve on a Presidential Task Force on victims of crime (1982).
Miller is a member of various Boards of Directors including International Game Technology, Newmont Mining
Corporation, Wynn Resorts and Zenith National Insurance Corp. He is the elected Secretary for the International
Association of Gaming Attorneys for the 2007 fiscal year.
A Las Vegas resident for nearly 50 years, Mr. Miller received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at the
University of Santa Clara and his juris doctorate from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. He is a member of the
Clark County Bar Association and the State Bar of Nevada.
